Disinfecting Starts With Protecting Your Business

Disinfection is one of the most important and effective ways of killing viruses and stopping the spread of germs at the source. Each manufacturer of disinfecting product, such as Clorox, Lysol, Ecolab and all others, are required to fill out SDS (Safety Data Sheets) for the use of their product. Each product's SDS gives specific wet time/kill time instructions as well as application instructions (and each product is different!). Time and time again, in this industry, we see other cleaning companies (and clients!) putting their own clients at unnecessary risk. Aside from the health concerns of misusing cleaning product, OSHA (The Occupational Safety & Health Administration) actually fines clients and cleaning companies for the misuse and/or mislabeling of cleaning products. Additionally, the SDS information for each product must be readily available (and near the product). These fines can be as much as $10,000 per violation and up to $100,000 per incident. Protecting your employees to keep your workplace functioning is at the top of mind for all business owners & operators. Protecting your businesses, and shielding you from unnecessary OSHA violations and fines should be your janitorial partner's #1 goal. If you already have a janitorial partner in place - be sure to ask if all cleaning bottles are properly labeled, have SDS information readily available and nearby. And make sure to determine if they're using the cleaning solutions to the manufacturer's recommendation per the Safety Data Sheet.

If you don't have a janitorial partner - or are looking for one you can trust - call Ohio Janitorial Solutions at (419) 496-1051.
